SmSt Finances The money book

SmSt Finances

Every shilling,
on one page.

Record sales, bills, tax and drawings. The statements, budgets and graphs all read from the same balanced book, so there is no second tally to keep.

The statements

The book balances itself.

Every entry posts at least two lines into the chart of accounts. The profit and loss, the balance sheet and the cash flow are three views of the same posted lines. Nothing is totalled by hand.

  • Income, expenses, tax, discounts, refunds and losses keep their own accounts.
  • Every entry keeps its reference, date and the person who posted it.
  • Void an entry and the statements follow. The audit line stays.

Rules, set once

Tax, discounts, fees and refunds stop being a guess.

A finance option is a rule: a percentage or a fixed amount, applied to sales, purchases, stock movements or expenses. Set it once and the same rule is used every time an entry touches it.

Plans

A budget that reads the book.

A budget watches one account or one finance option. The bar fills from the posted entries in the current period, so it is a live measure, not a second spreadsheet.

The graph builder

Ask the book a question.

Pick the X and the Y separately. Time, product, category, option, account or entry kind on one axis. Amount, profit, loss or stock value on the other. The graph is drawn from the same posted lines.

The handover

The book leaves the screen when it needs to.

Print a statement, download the ledger, send the accountant a spreadsheet. The same posted figures, in the shape the other person needs.

Close the month

Know the number before the month ends.

Put the first entry in the book. The statements will follow it.
